So. Despite the fact that I keep encouraging myself to post once a week, I'm finding even that hard to do. Where has my blogging mojo gone? Oh! But I did sign up for a crafty swap, and there's still time to join - go here if you'd like to.
Since last I posted I did finish Charlie's sweater:
Me: "OMG, it fits you PERfectly! With a little room to grow, even! How do you like it??????"
He: "Wow, it's nice. But it feels like little needles are pricking my arms."
Me: "Hmm. Well. Just wear a long-sleeved shirt under it."
He: "Okay, thanks mom."
Me: "Cuz you are gonna wear it, right?"
He: "Of course!"
So I think my boy is sensitive to wool and, truth be told, so am I. While it doesn't bother me to knit with wool, wearing it does give me a bit of "the itchies," but wear it I do because a life of only acrylic is not for me. That said, if I want my son to wear my handknits, I'll have to explore some other less-itchy options in the future.
Here's the Ravelry link to all the details. Now I'm off to start putting together some Ikea furniture. Is it too early for a glass of wine? Yeah, I thought so.
"cause you are gonna wear it, right?" LOL. I totally get it. I can't stand wool on my bare skin most of the time. Cashmere, yes. Most merinos, yes. I've even been able to wear my tweed sweater (peasy) without an undershirt, but with a tank top. There is a cost difference, though, right?! Oh well, hopefully he will still wear it because it's really handsome. I love the colors and the stripes.

Great stripes! Love that look -- kind of British-looking.

Love the stripes!
My kids are sensitive to wool too, but I use babywool or superwash as I find it less itcy.

It's never too early for wine when IKEA furniture is involved!!
Sweater looks great! I really need to knit for the boys again.

It's super cute, even with the itchy! I have that same problem and have even had an allergy attack or two from knitting with some fairly raw wool. Hope Charlie finds a way to wear that sweater!

Such a beautiful sweater! I hope he wears it with a long-sleeved shirt to counter the itchies, because he will be kicking himself when he's older if he doesn't - does it get any better than a handmade sweater made with love by one's own mother?? Have you ever knit with cotton yarn? Would be less itchy, though also less warm... I'm happy to find Funny Magic again - you and I emailed back and forth once, ages ago, and then I took a long blog break, but I've been back to mine (True North) for about a year. Look forward to reading more!

That sweater looks professional. I do hope he wears it. I've stopped knitting for my kids except for the occasional hat or mittens.

Blast those darn itchies! The sweater looks fantastic on him. My blogging mojo has done got up and went too. What can we do about that? Even my blog reading has declined. :(

Great, perfect sweater. Tell him to suck it up and wear it the whole freaking time.
