Hello there, and happy 2011! I'm back at the blog, and I plan to catch up with my favorite bloggy folks within the next few days, but in the meantime I'd like to present (crappy pics and all) my first FO of the new year:

I made this calendar for my mom for Christmas - such a fun little project. I purchased the calendar panel from September House on Etsy and then used only stuff from my stash to embellish it. I ran into a little trouble when I couldn't find a dowel long enough to hang the calendar, but then I dug deep within my noggin and decided to duct-tape two dowels together and hide the ugly with a knitted tube. Inventive, no?

To embellish the top I sewed-on a doily and embroidered red french knots all around it. Next year I'll have to buy more than just one panel so that I can make one for myself. Plus I think these make excellent, inexpensive Christmas gifts.
Unfortunately, I didn't finish that sweater for my son by Christmas day. Between getting ready for the holiday, hockey season, and shoveling snow everyday, a lack of time got the best of me. But I did finish the body and will be casting-on for a sleeve today, although I might also have to cast-on for a new project, like this one:

I have the yarn from Quince and Co. sitting here tempting me 24/7....
