Well. I finished my Rooibos. I thought it would turn out okay, perhaps a bit longer than I'd have liked, but highly wearable and lovable. Well.
It's bad, people. Bad, bad knitting. After rinsing and blocking/drying, I put it on and whaddaya know? One side is longer than the other. Not only that, the pockets are too low for me to put my hands into without assuming the position of really bad posture. Oh, and the ribbing in back that's supposed to lie around waist-level rests atop my arse. Plus the itch factor of this yarn is high, and I don't like that. Aaargh!
To say that I was ignorant from the get-go would be stretching the truth, because I did have my suspicions as I was knitting merrily along. I thought the yarn I was using might be too scratchy to wear. I suspected that I should've paid more attention to the length of this beast from the bottom to the beginning of the waist shaping. Really, though? I just kinda' played dumb. (But heck if I know how one side came out longer than the other; I suspect it has something to do with attaching the front ribbed band, which I did twice btw.)
Anyhoo, Rooibos is currently in the washing machine awaiting a good hot water wash, soon to be felted into Bad Knitting oblivion. Now, if you'll excuse me...
Oh, this post title cracked me up! I'm sorry to hear Rooibos didn't turn out as lovely as you'd hoped. But, as a wise knitter once told me: you can't win them all.

Bummer, Hal. This is not good news.

OH man!!! That stinks. I hope that hot water teaches that itchy yarn a lesson. I hate when that happens. Those grannies look cute - a good thing to drown your sorrows in ;-)

I laughed right out loud when I read this! How many of us have had a similar experience... pretty much everyone, I bet! I certainly have... many times. Thanks for sharing and making me smile... the grannies look lovely!

Grannies are definitely the cure! And there's no remorse if one gets botched -- just frog it.
We've all been there. I thought I was the queen of bloopers when I made my son a little romper suit. One leg was about six inches longer than the other. I dressed him in it anyway -- just because it was the first thing I ever sewed.

Oh noooooo! There is nothing worse than that moment when you realize that a knit is unsuccessful. I think you might need something stronger than coffee.

Sorry about the bad knitting, brave of you to admit it though.

Dang! After all that hard work?...sorry about the bad knit. I hope the grannies and coffee helped out. Your grannies look purty.

Take heart, your bad knitting is better than I will ever be able to do, and I can't wait to see what you do with it when it is felted!

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your Rooibos...
I've ripped a few cardigans for myself because they've turned out to small... Can't throw them in the washer then. Hope yours will came out fiting you after the wash.

Oh dear! I knit just like you and would have probably had the same problem! I tried on my sweater last night and, gosh, I don't know if I need to frog now or keep going and see (with my fingers crossed).

Dang it!! I'm a great one for moving right along even when I think something might be just a bit out of whack. It'll all turn out alright in the end, right?! NO! I'm sure that felted and cut up, your Roobis will morph into something fantastic~
