Hi there! Did you happen to watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution this past weekend? I sure did, and I thought it was transfixing, eye-opening, and completely inspiring. I don't watch a lot of tv, nor do I tend to carve time out of my evenings for any specific shows, but this coming Friday evening I will be tuned-in for sure.
After I watched the program I got up and taught Juliet how to make smoothies with just a minimal amount of help from mama, and then made a big batch of pesto chicken and pasta for my family to eat for dinner that night while I was away at work. And let me tell ya, it felt great...not because I don't cook, because I do, but it felt good to do it with intention and purpose and good will, rather than seeing it as one more thing to do on my daily list of stuff to do. In general, I try to be thoughtful about what I buy at the grocery store and what we all put in our mouths each day, but sometimes? Well. Sometimes I feel just too tired and tapped-out to care, and that's when you'll open up my freezer and find corndogs and frozen pizza and fish sticks in there. But I know I can do better if I just take a little time to plan ahead, while reserving some time on the weekends to cook for the upcoming week...and I mean I'm starting yesterday.
I keep hearing abou this show - I'm like you - tv is a minimum. I don't watch any shows on a regular basis. I've got to check it out. Good for you ... I need to plan a bit more too. Thanks for the inspiration.

This gets me freaking PUMPED UP!!! I love this guy...did you see that book of his I reviewed on my blog? It's GORGEOUS!!! N'kay...I love hulu because I cannot sit down and watch television in the evenings when my kids are up and around, but I can always carve out some time after bed and during nap time.

I hardly ever watch tv and now I'm kicking myself for missing this one. I'm going to make it a point to tune in this Friday. Thanks for sharing this -- we can all do better.

I watched it. What I can say, in England he's a national hero - he's turned school food around. He's so genuine and sincere in his belief, I know some people in the UK find his style a bit irritating, but it's hard not to admire his enthusiasm.

Thanks for the link. We don't have a TV but the boys and I are at my parent's for a visit and she was mentioning this show and i wanted to see it, but of course forgot it was on. I'm going to watch it tonight!
We've been on an elimination diet for one of the boys, which pretty much means that all prepared food is out, including my beloved last guilty pleasure: the Tombstone pizza. These days I've just come up with a schedule of preparing and freezing for those last minute dinners. Maybe I'll put a post together of my schedule. It helps a lot!

Been wondering about that show, but missed the first episode. I'll try to catch it now for sure.

I share your view on this completely. Cooking is so much more than bringing food on the table. Happy Easter, by the way!

I haven't seen it yet, but I cannot wait to watch that show. I think I will have a marathon of JO this weekend with some knitting thrown in--good times!
