Birdie Sling and Powder Room Scarf :: Finished!

Well, kiss my grits and call me Flo! It's my second post in two days, but I just had to share a couple FO's.

Last week I finished-up the Birdie Sling from Amy Butler. This is the second Amy Butler purse/bag I've sewn, and I must say that I just love love love her patterns. They are so easy to follow, and the instructions are really clear - my seam ripper was only employed on light duty, and that's always a good thing!

This bag is big, sturdy, and comfortable to lug around all my junk carry, and I've been using it everyday. (I'm just not the kind of person who can get away with a small purse - I've tried, but I always end up nearly losing it or leaving it behind someplace. The bigger the better for me!) Anyhoo, I'm planning to make another one of these bags for my sweet mom - she picked out the fabric from my stash already, now I just gotta get to work. 

While I was up north I finished my "Powder Room Scarf," named as such because it was my go-to work-in-progress while hanging out with Juliet in the "powder room" during her very long and leisurely bathtimes. I used Misti Alpaca worsted and just did a knit 3, purl 3 rib until all the yarn was gone. Very soft and squishy, super warm, and just in time for summer! heehee.

Oh, I love the bag!!! I need to give one of those a try. I'll have to pick the book up at the library. I love your fabric choices. And the scarf (love the name!) looks squishy indeed. How nice.

Very nice! I've been tempted to make the Birdie Sling myself, it has a very nice rounded shape.

I just bought a non-Amy Butler pattern that is very similar, and I'm excited to make it. Now I just have to get my sewhappyJane orders all caught up so I can sew for myself.

last night on tv there was a show which chronicled the 50 'best' tv catch phrases - i laughed pretty hard when they came to 'alice' - thought i was the only one still around who remembered that show -
