Round and round and round, repeat. I'd say I've only got a few more inches to go before shaping the armholes and neckline, so it's coming along. And boy, I love me some mindless knitting in the round, but a gal can only take so much. Which leads me to this weekend.
This weekend, what with it being so cold outside and both Juliet and I fighting colds, I took it to the machine for awhile...
...and made two new nighty-nightgowns for my girl. For the pattern I used Butterick #4910, and let me just say, I whipped right through it. The last time I used this pattern (and the first time I made a nightgown for her), it took me quite a while. But now? Now, while sewing, I felt totally confident in my sewing skills and in my ability to piece a pattern together while not questioning my every move; all the practice and time I've spent at the machine is paying off. I love that feeling, of teaching myself something new and getting it down, to the point of being able to put together two new garments within a day. Is that a good feeling or what?!
Okay, back to the knitting. I am making a personal vow to finish this sweater for Charlie before winter ends!
Amazing!! My mother did a lot of sewing when I was a little girl; I don't remember her ever being that fast though.

I *totally* read you on the sewing thing. I feel the same way this year. I love that you and I have traveled this path together this year, too. I've been sewing straight lines without patterns for many years, but this year something changed. Patterns, curves and clothes hit the docket and I've never been happier.

I recognize the placket neck sweater -- and what a great job on the nightgowns! How fun.

The nightgowns are really cute. I love the feeling of accomplishment when finishing any project but sewing is so much faster than knitting. I agree it is a great break from knitting. I love the yarn in Charlie's sweater. You will be done lickety split.
But I know how you feel. I am working on a the double knit argyle scarf from the Son of Stitch and Bitch. It was supposed to be my hubby's Christmas present. I am seriously only half way done - about 35 inches and I stopped doing the argyle pattern in the middle to speed up the process. All other projects are on hold, but it is boring me to tears. Jeez, I can't wait for this scarf to be finished.

Awesome! I can't imagine knitting a sweater - it's going to be beautiful!
Love those nighties - too cute. I bet she loves them.
It's such a great feeling when something clicks. aaaahhhhh

You are a sewing fiend these days! So cute. Soon I will get up the courage to sew using a pattern.
Cheers,
Tracey

Ah, that feeling is the best! I know exactly what you mean. It took me several years before I dared to try a pattern, it makes me laugh a little when I think of all the fabrics I cut, sewed and threw away... But I learned a lot in the preocess.
I especially like the two-blue combination!

New nightclothes are always a real mood-lifter!

I love those nightgowns, and know my little one (almost 4) would love them too... sadly I don't have a clue how to use the very nice sewing machine my mother-in-law gave me (hint, hint?). But I will learn. I will learn, and make a quilt from our charm square swap, and then I will make those nighties!
